February is...

... quite an "active" month! Beginning with Groundhog Day on the 2nd (he saw his shadow, by the way - that means 6 more weeks of winter for those who have winter), and moving on to Valentine's Day, Presidents' Day and more.. February is also African-American History Month, so come on down to the library and check out our topical displays!

Perhaps the most celebrated of our Presidents is Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday we commemorate on February 12th. Follow this link for more information:

The Abraham Lincoln Association

"On February 12, 2009, The Abraham Lincoln Association will lead the national celebration of Lincoln's 200th birthday." The website for the association features the association's journal back to 1979, access to the collected works of Abraham Lincoln (a multi-volume set of Lincoln's correspondence, speeches, and other writings), teacher's guides, and a listing of 2009 bicentennial events in Springfield, Illinois.
